Chip Timing

You will receive a disposable electronic timing chip as part of your 'Ride Pack'. The timing chip provides a degree of safety, letting us know when a rider has started and when they have safely returned. We will also use the timing chip to record your time through designated checkpoints along the route (splits), and to record your completion time. A Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal will be awarded to all who complete their chosen route within the qualifying times for their age and gender categoty. Medal Times are shown on the respective route pages.

The timing chip looks like a stickly label. Peal off the backing paper and stick the chip to the ouside left of your cycle helmet. Do not stick it on top of any metal strips, old timing chips, or other metalic surfaces as this will stop it from working correctly.

General Route Info

Just Events Limited will make every effort to ensure the Moor to Sea Sportive routes are clearly signed and we will have marshals, mechanics, medics, and support crews out patrolling the course. Route Cards (cue sheets) and GPX files are also available to download from the respective route pages.

Health & Safety

When cycling on open public roads there will always be an element or risk. Just Events Limited have taken great care in planning the routes for this event and have completed all the necessary risk assessments and safety checks. The Terms & Conditions for entry are published on our website, additionally, we will publish a 'Ride Manual' 2 weeks before the Sportive and deliver a final safety briefing on the start line before you begin your ride.

When participating, you will be expected to cycle safely, in accordance with law and as recommended by the Highway Code. We expect you to be courteous and show respect to other road users and to your fellow participants.

Just Events Limited are providing you with a cycle challenge and rider support. All aspects of road and cycle safety rest with the individual participants. You should treat each and every perceived hazard in exactly the same way that you would if you were out cycling on your own. If you do not believe that it is safe for you to continue then you must stop. If you observe anything which you consider to be a hazard to other road users please report it to an official as soon as it is practicable for you to do so.

It is vital to the continuation of our sport that we all play our part in positively representing cycling to the wider public.

All entrants MUST wear cycle helmets.

Much of the Dartmoor and the South Devon Coast is very exposed and in September you could encounter some inclement weather conditions. We recommend taking a lightweight waterproof if there is the slightest chance of rain. In order that you can be seen if  the rain or mist descends then fit at least a rear light.

Nutrition & Hydration

Each particpant is responsible for managing their own personal neutrition. We will supply water and energy drinks, bananas and other energy foods at the feed stations. In addition to this, you should be equipped with two large water bottles and some additional energy foods to use between the start and first feed station.

Special Diets & Food Allergies

We are unable to guarantee that the normal range of foods provided at our feed stations will be free from allergens such as eggs, nuts, gluten, lactose, wheat, crustations, fish, soya, celery, etc. Some of our foods will be packaged and will have their ingredient clearly identified on the wrapper. We will have a 'free from' food box available at each feed station with a small selection of allergen free products but we are unable to cater for individual special dietary requirements. If you have specific dietary requirements we recommend that you bring your own food supply with you.

Post Ride Recovery Food

As dedicated cyclists, we recognise the importance of nutrition as part of your post-ride recovery. We will have catering services available for you to purchase suitable refreshments at the finish.

Welfare & Support

Should you find yourself in need of assistance during the Sportive, you will have an Event Support Phone Number recorded on the rear of your Bike Number. You will be able to call this number and our event control team will arrange the appropriate level of asistance for you.

Mechanical Support

All riders should aim to be self sufficient in case of any mechanical problems on the day. We would recommend that you have your bike serviced one to two weeks prior to the event to ensure it is in a good, serviceable & roadworthy condition. On the day you should carry two spare inner tubes, tyre levers, pump and a puncture repair kit. It is not uncommon for riders to suffer punctures during sportive events. Ideally you should also carry a lightweight folding multi tool, available through any good cycle store. We will have marshals at key locations and mechanical support vehicles patrolling the course should you encounter a problem that you are unable to resolve yourself. There will also be mechanical assistance available at the Event HQ and feed stations if necessary.

Rider Recovery

Should you find yourself in the situation where you feel unable to safely finish the course, our support vans will be available to collect you and bring you back to the Event HQ.
