The Moor2Sea Extreme Route starts and finishes at Exeter Racecourse. It covers a total distance of approximately 112 miles (180 km) with almost 10,000 ft of climbing and gradients upto 26%. The route is electronically chip timed, with gold, silver, and bronze medal standards set against age and gender categories. Details of the medal times for each age and gender category are shown in the tables below. All finishers will receive a medal.

KoM and QoM Segment

The Extreme route also incorporates a King & Queen of the Mountains hill climb segment at Haytor (46 km / 28 miles into the route). This timed segment is 3.6 miles long with 1,200ft of ascent at an average gradient of 6%. Those who complete this segment within the qualifying time for their gender will receive one of our prestigious KoM or QoM Pin Badges. 12 lucky people, selected at random from the qualifying riders, will also receive a top-of-the-range Helix 2 cycle jersey from our sponsors, Primal Europe. These jerseys, in our own unique KoM / QoM design, will also be available to purchased at the finish by anyone who qualifies.

Qualifying times are 26 minutes for men and 32 minutes for women. These times are set against the official Moor to Sea hill climb segment on STRAVA, with those qualifying being placed within the top 40% of all-time achievements for their gender.

This is the same hill climb as used a number of times for the Devon Stage of the Tour of Britain so those who qualify can be very proud of their achievement.

Feed Stations:

There are four feed stations on the Moor to Sea Extreme route. Feed Station1 is located at the Rydon Community Centre, Kingsteignton (22 miles). Feed Station 2 is located at Bellever Youth Hostel, Postbridge (42 miles). Feed Station 3 is located at the Dartmoor Rescue Centre, Buckfastleigh (78 miles), and the fourth is back at Bellever Youth Hostel, Postbridge (89 miles). All Feed Stations provide a selection of sweet and savoury foods, energy products (High 5) and drinks. There are also toilets available at all feed station.

Start & Finish Times:

Participants must start between 07:00 hrs and 08:00 hrs. All riders must be finished by 17:30 hrs. If you start at 07:00 hrs you will have the maximum time of 10 hrs 30 minutes to complete the route (including stops). You should not attempt this route unless you are confident that you can average a minimum of 12 mph across Dartmoor terrain.

Cut-off Time:

There is a cut-off time at the Postbridge Route Split. This is at the 43 mile point, 1 mile after the second feed station (Bellever YHA). You must clear this point by 11:30 hrs at the very latest. Any rider who fails to reach the cut-off point by 11:30 hrs will be diverted onto the Challenge (Medium distance) route. This is essential to ensure that all riders can finish by 17:30 hrs. The event will shut at 18:00 hrs.

Extreme Route Medal Times

The Moor2Sea Sportive awards a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal to all participants based on thier finish time. The tables below show the MAXIMUM time allowed for each category in order to qualify for the corresponding medal.

All FINISHERS will receive a medal & 'Goodybag' provided they complete the course before 18:00 hrs. All participants MUST be clear of the route by this time.
