You should treat each and every perceived hazard in exactly the same way that you would if you were out cycling on your own. If you do not believe that it is safe for you to continue then you must stop. If you observe anything which you consider to be a hazard to other road users please report it to an official as soon as it is practicable for you to do so.

Dartmoor is very exposed and even in September you could encounter some inclement weather conditions. We recommend taking a lightweight waterproof if there is the slightest chance of rain. In order that you can be seen if  the rain or Dartmoor mist descends then fit at least a rear light.

We will supply water and energy drinks, bananas and other energy foods at the feed zones. In addition to this, you should be equipped with two water bottle cages with large water bottles and some additional energy foods to use between the start and first feed station should you require them. High Carbohydrate foods will be available for purchase at the Event HQ. This will include breakfast between 06:00 hrs and 09:00 hrs and a nutritios recovery meal for when you finish, (served between 12:00 hrs and 18:00 hrs).

Mechanical Support
All riders should aim to be self sufficient in case of any mechanical problems on the day. We would recommend that you carry two spare inner tubes, tyre levers, pump and a puncture repair kit. It is not uncommon for riders to suffer punctures during sportive events. Ideally you should also carry a lightweight folding multi tool, available through any good cycle store. We will have marshals at key locations and mechanical support vehicles patrolling the course should you encounter a problem that you are unable to resolve yourself. There will also be mechanical assistance available at the Event HQ and feed stations if necessary.

Rider Recovery Service
Should you find yourself in the situation where you feel unable to safely finish the course, there will be a 'Rider Recovery Service' operating from Bellever Feed Zone, to take you back to Exeter Racecourse.
